Celebrate Sailing This Summer
Youth Sailing Virginia is bringing the sailing community together for a day of on-the-water sailing, boat displays, and community connection at historic Fort Monroe. Whether you’re an experienced racer, a one-design enthusiast, or simply curious about sailing — this day is for you.
2026 is a special year for sailing. With Sail250 making waves across Hampton Roads and the nation, there’s never been a better moment to celebrate our sport and welcome new sailors into the community.
What to Expect: A Full Day on the Water
Free Sailing on Mill Creek
Try sailing for free. Perfect for first-timers and seasoned sailors alike.
One Design Boat Showcase
Explore a stunning display of one-design class boats that sail throughout Hampton Roads — rigged, on display, and ready for you to get up close.
Half-Mile Runway Display
Larger boats will be showcased on the Walker Field Runway adjacent to YSV — half a mile of boats, classes, and sailing organizations to explore.
Kayak & Paddleboat Rentals
City of Hampton kayak and paddleboat rentals are available at the Fort Monroe Community Center for even more ways to enjoy the water.

The Celebration Continues at Oozlefinch
After a great day on the water, we’ll gather at Oozlefinch Brewery at Fort Monroe to celebrate, share stories, and talk about what’s next for sailing in Hampton Roads. All are welcome!
