Youth Sailing Virginia takes pride in hosting Christopher Newport University’s sailing team. The Christopher Newport Sailing team has been a part of Captains Athletics since the early 1970’s and has competed as members of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) for nearly four decades. The Captains sail in one of the most challenging conferences in the country, the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) and face nationally-ranked programs in virtually every regatta in which they race.

With the “sailing stadium” venue created by Youth Sailing Virginia in Hampton, Va., conditions are ideal to support and promote college-style sailboat racing. Sailors from Christopher Newport will practice from YSV’s Sailing Center and the City of Hampton’s Mill Creek Pier. Throughout the fall and spring collegiate sailing seasons, CNU will host events that attract sailing teams from Universities throughout the East Coast to the City of Hampton, the home of Christopher Newport sailing.

YSV is enthusiastic about forging robust connections with other local colleges by offering physical education courses, establishing partnerships to foster community growth, and providing resources for their teams.
