Location

YSV sailing venue is strategically located on the shallow waters of Mill Creek at historic Fort Monroe.  This site provides a safe enclosed body of water with virtually no power boat traffic.  On any given day visitors to Fort Monroe and residents along the north side of Mill Creek are offered perfect visibility to watch practices and regattas throughout the spring and fall seasons.

YSV has proven its potential for hosting regional and national championships including fall of October 2015’s, MASSA Fall Fleet Race Regatta II that included two days of sailing with 18 teams from Virginia, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey in conjunction with SAIL Fort Monroe.  Most recently during our spring season YSV hosted college level practices for Christopher Newport University and University of Virginia Sailing Teams.  This allowed our sailors to experience college level coaching while on the water!

Fort Monroe is centrally located in Hampton and is located on the westbound side of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.  Approaching Fort Monroe visitors will travel through the historic area of Phoebus.  A waterfront community with a small town feel and rich history.  Phoebus is home to many shops and restaurants that invite visitors to enjoy.
